You're Kidding Right?

Okay, it's blog hopping time! Woohoo!
This week, the good people over at Crazy-for-Books are hosting this great hop with a really fun and ridiculous question:

“How many books are currently in your To-Be-Read (TBR) Pile?”
Seriously?!?! Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! How do I even begin to answer this one? Legends have been told about the great pile that is my TBR pile. It haunts my dreams the magnitude of this stack. And yet I keep adding to it! Every single day! There are just too many books.

The most accurate count of my TBR pile is probably on Shelfari where the approximate number is 183. But even that is pure rubbish. I carry around a little notepad in my purse in which I am constantly jotting down books I want to read one day and those don’t normally make it to the website. Then there are all the books on the shelves of my parents’ house. So many books! Basically all of those are in my eventual-TBR, it’s just a matter of time before I steal borrow them.

I try to tell myself I’ll stop adding to my TBR list. One day I’ll just cut myself off. Like someone with a serious drug habit or something. I need to see someone about this problem. Do they have some sort of rehab facility I could check myself into? I’ve seriously said to myself “okay, I’m not going to add anything else to my TBR for this whole summer.” And lo and behold, the next day there are 5 shiny new books in the pile. It’s like I blacked out and it just happened! I don’t even know how!

So really let’s just round up to a nice even number…1,000. No no. That’s too small. 3,000. That sounds more accurate. Oh, just found another one to add. 3,001.

LOL. I hear you girl. What would be a more appropriate question for me is which books are not on my TBR list.

this is great! I actually had to implement a book buying BAN to get me to stop adding to the TBR pile. It worked for about 7 weeks, but then I cracked 2 weeks in a row. I'm back on the wagon though. I tell myself for the rest of the year but who am I kidding? and that's just books I own...that I have to read. Nevermind books I want to read that I don't own yet. I won't even include those, the number's already large enough without them (162).

HA, to keep from going crazy, I've limited my TBR to two types -- TBR that I own copies of -- thus I *really* need to read soon -- and TBR that I someday want to find somewhere. Those I can get to a little less urgently (unless I buy a book off this list then it goes onto the other list!).

How do you find time to do anything else? LOL I am impressed you keep them written down.

Hello!

I'm seriously a bona-fide addict as well. I've given up looking for a cure a long time ago! My mom and friends are my enablers and I love them for it! :)

To answer this and not sound potentially mental, I took TBR as about 100, ie the number of books that I actually own that I have to read (it's actually probably more than that) but you're totally right, there are so many more that I want to read too... Ah well, a life of reading ain't a bad way to spend it, right?! hehe

I have way too many books on my TBR list and TBR pile. All told that comes to about sixty books.

Now here's the scary math: I read roughly one book per week - and sometimes two. But two to three books are being added to my TBR list every week.

Stressful, right?

Wrong!

Hop on over to my blog - http://www.howardsherman.net and find out why.

Reading about books, buying books, talking about books, borrowing books is an addiction for me too. Which is why I have about 200 unread books and it doesn't help that my family encourages me!

3,000??? Wow!!! You will be pretty busy.

NEW FOLLOWER!!

I have 29 physical books. Not sure if I was to count the ones I want to read.

Hope I answered the question correctly.

Hope you had a good weekend.
