Well so I was tweeting around on Twitter today (yeah, that’s right, that’s what I do now because I’m super cool) and I saw a tweet by someone, don’t remember who, talking about once they hit 200 followers they were going to host a giveaway. Well, I’m nowhere near 200 followers and I don’t do giveaways but that got me to thinking…I could, for the very special occasion that should soon be approaching, host a giveaway once I hit 100 followers. I mean, how hard can it be? Well, it could actually be difficult. I have no clue about this giveaway stuff. But let’s pretend my tiny brain could somehow figure it all out.
What do y’all think? I mean, I only really read classics and literary fiction so it probably wouldn’t be some brand new exciting book that’s just hit the shelves. But it would still be a free book. Who doesn’t like free books?! Rich snobs. That’s who. Pffft!
So I just thought I’d shoot this idea around and see what everyone thinks. Now watch me get no more followers EVER so the idea never comes to fruition. Ha! But if it were to happen, what book do you think I should giveaway? I’m open to ideas. You all know the type of books I read so you have an idea of what would be a good one for me to giveaway. I need all the help I can get because I’ve never done this before. I just want the book to be a good representation of me and the blog, you know?
Also, try saying “tweeting around on Twitter today” five times fast. It’s hard!

Go for it, a giveaway is a great way to get more traffic and more followers :) i think any book you pick would be great, if you liked it enough to have it on your shelf, I'm sure other book lovers will love it too :)
Good luck!
Giveaways are fun, I do them all the time.
You can have other people help advertise your giveaway and put it on goodreads too. There is a giveaways group. That group has really helped my blog grow.
I know what you mean. I don't really know about this stuff either. But I started a 100 followed contest/giveaway and so far, it's been fun, and not as stressful as I imagined. Go for it!
Llevinso, I've passed on my Stylish Blogger award to you. Come by and pick it up. :)
Llevinso - Giveaways are fun and really not too much work -- getting to the post office is the 'hardest' part! I started by giving away beloved paperbacks of mine or copies of books I'd reviewed. You could also do a book certificate giveaway to someplace online (I've done Book Depository since it's free shipping to a badrillion countries around the world.)
I wouldn't say that I've gotten a ton of active readers out of giveaways but it has raised the number of followers and gives me a burst of increased traffic. I think they are great for building camaraderie with readers and non-bloggers, though, and a very nice way to brighten a book lover's day!
Thanks for the encouragement everyone!
@Evie, you’re too kind ;)
@W2W, I’ll check out that group on GR. I am a member of Bloggers Unite group though.
@Perri, thanks for the award! I won that once before but I’ll definitely stop by and accept :)
@Audra, thanks for all the ideas!
This sounds lame, but what about your favorite book? I think it would represent you and your blog perfectly. :)
@Darlyn, First I thought you were saying my giveaway idea sounded lame and I was like “well boo to you too!” haha. But I was thinking about my favorite book as well actually. Like I could giveaway a nice copy of Jane Eyre or 1984? Those are good books in my opinion. Who wouldn’t want those? :)
I've considered doing a giveaway on my blog as well, but I'm not really sure how to go about doing them. I like Darlyn's idea to offer up your favorite book or maybe offer up a few favorites for the winner to select from?
If you do a giveaway, I'll post in my sidebar.
I was thinking of doing one at 100 to, but I seem to have stalled at 95.
We'll see how it goes.
*too
I'm only one follower ahead of you (99) and i've been thinking about doing a 100 follower giveaway as well! I think they are a fun thing to do and a great way to appreciate foloowers and spread love for great books :)
